★ The author, WangAnyi,thinks one will never delve into the history of the place where one lives,but she did it and,based on this,tells stories about Shanghai where she lives—lanes,foreign style buildings and changes in the lives of people who live in these buildings.Illustrations by Li Xueyuan and Li Xi,all famous artists in China,are very entertaining.
